75% of Airline Traffic (Passengers and Cargo) Passes through 29 Hub Airports.	98% of the US population lives within 20 miles of at least one of the approximately 5,400 public use airports.

 

What is general aviation?

General Aviation is defined as all aviation other than commercial and military aviation. It is one of our nation's most important and dynamic industries, carrying 145 million passengers annually on general aviation aircraft ranging from two-seat training aircraft to intercontinental business jets.

More than 5,000 communities rely on general aviation for their air transportation needs (scheduled airlines serve about 600 communities by comparison). Approximately 70 percent of the hours flown by general aviation are for business and commercial purposes.
